Presentation

This is where we meet Bachir, the one who lives in a cottage made of windows with vertical floors and a bouncy ground and a lamppost in the living room. Inside this house in motion, Bachir is both older and younger. Does he have a brother? A friend? Is it only his shadow? As if this were a short story by Dostoyevsky or Poe, the anomaly of the double presence sows doubt... Is it all madness or just a dream? In this space that is both tangible and intangible, in this cage-like home, Bachir becomes transfixed by the smallest of cracks and the bizarreness of reality.

And thus we are thrust into an imaginary world in suspension, a place made up of time gone by, solitude, and brotherhood.

“(This performance) draws its beauty from the passage of time, from the search renewal." – Mouvement

The Mains, les Pieds et la Tête Aussi (MPTA) company was founded in Lyon in 2001 by Mathurin Bolze, Jérôme Fèvre and Julie Grange, and the group welcomed Colin Diederichs and Marion Floras in 2009. Its work is focused on research, creation, and the promotion of contemporary circus arts. The group regularly performs its creations, collaborative projects, and the work of apprentices in France and abroad. The association has been entrusted with numerous events and carte blanche commissions as the collective is closely involved with a vast network of artists working in new and original art forms.

A creator and performer who is involved in creation, research, tour management, and artistic consultancy, Mathurin Bolze continually strives to unite artistic and human affinities in his search for new approaches to movement and the performing arts. In conjunction with Les Célestins-Théâtre de Lyon, in 2011 the MPTA company began running the utoPistes festival, a biennial event devoted to the circus arts and utopias both big and small.
