Presentation

Part of the Festival Les Elancées program

A 2016 Edinburg Festival prize-winner (Total Theater & Jacksons Lane Circus Award), Tipping Point unfolds a hazy and perilous universe. Rather than depicting circus acrobats capable of carrying out every kind of feat, the show recreates a world made of humanity, caught between emotion and conflict, in which each spectator can recognize themself. In the ring, five acrobats use their graceful movements to transform five metallic posts into a landscape and a world that are rich in imagery. They find themselves balanced, static, connected…They hang on in order to elevate themselves and reunite with this shaky world.

Plunged into atmospheric sounds and a subdued ambience, they struggle with this world in which things start to change. A world that is at times surprising, moving, enchanting, and which always relies on an unstable balance. With its multiple layers, Tipping Point’s musical landscape is cast in the show's image and is specially composed by Adem Ilhan & Quinta, in collaboration withHot Chip, Bat For Lashes, and Radiohead’s Philip Selway.

Created in 2004, the British company Ockham’s Razor specializes in the creation of an aerial physical theater that tells the story of the vulnerability, the trust, and the dependence experienced between aerial artists. The company creates original shows that focus on the individual, and his/her relationship to the other and to the world around them. Its members met while studying at Circomedia, the Centre for Contemporary Circus and Physical Theatre in Bristol. Since its success in 2006 at the London International Mime Festival, the company has performed throughout the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States, and Australia.
