Through the lens of Philippe Cibille

A genuinely self-taught artist, Philippe Cibille has devoted 45 years to live performance photography in a constant search for perfection, aesthetics, and emotions. After scouring the festivals in the area of his native city of Nancy, he moved to Paris in the 1980s and frequented the capital’s music clubs to photograph jazz legends for the magazine Jazz Hot.

His discovery of the Archaos circus company in 1989 was an artistic revelation. From then on, he devoted himself to recording the evolution of the contemporary circus on film. As a fervent champion of this hybrid art form, Philippe Cibille has an unparalleled ability to capture the perfection of movements, the beauty of transformed bodies, and the very essence of the performances.
