Presentation

Originally, the human cannon is a circus trick that consists of a helmeted person being duly ejected from a somewhat unusual cannon. This person is the projectile, and their weight becomes profound as their body arches through the air on its heroic curve.

In this case, a woman sings while a man glides through the air. Both of them are aware of the poetic and kamikaze character of the undertaking, and they exhaust themselves in their efforts and then evaporate altogether.

L'homme canon [The Human Cannon] is about the ultimate sense of vertigo – utter drunkenness in total sobriety and an orgy of jubilation in a state of rigid restraint!

Using a demanding and utterly unique approach, Rémi Luchez has created shows that evoke a pure and minimalist universe where the absurd mixes with physical prowess. He works without artifice, on shows that could resemble art povera, making do with what's there, using what you have on hand.

In his work, Rémi Luchez always starts from the gesture, the body, and the pleasure of the act of creating. The artistic process always starts from an exploration of an obsession to find meaning, satisfaction, finesse, and emotion.

"Never have his words been so sparse and lucid, so close to the essence of his discipline of balancing."

– Zibeline

"Among the pioneers of a minimalist circus, the wire-worker Rémi Luchez exercises his discipline by evoking infinite symbolism. Alongside the soloist Lola Calvet, with this performance he achieves a degree of perfection with an economy of movement and materials that allows the core substance to shine through."

– Théâtre(s) magazine

After training at the CNAC national center for circus arts in Châlons-en-Champagne in 2005, Rémi Luchez spent two years touring with the show Toto Lacaille (a collective creation of his graduating class at the CNAC) and then participated in the project Trois petits points... directed by Nikolaus.

In 2008, Rémi was awarded the Jeunes Talents Cirque Europe prize for the Miettes project, which he created with artistic oversight from Pierre Déaux. He adapted it to a solo performance in January 2009, and then, in 2010, he embarked on a bicycle tour with Miettes. He built two attachable carts that served as rolling hotels and hit the road with his bicycle to play about 30 dates over four months.

In 2011, he created Nichons là with Olivier Debelhoir.

In 2014 and 2015, he worked as a consultant on the show More Aura by Véronique Tuaillon, and he also launched research laboratories with Gus Sauzay and Alexandre Leclerc.

Between 2016 and 2017, Rémi worked with the Des Causses du Quercy regional park to create on-site artistic projects.

In 2017 he created Sec, a unique and dynamic visual performance.
