Presentation

We are at the end of a strange corridor, somewhere between heaven and earth, in a realm outside of time and space. We don't know how we got there, and we'll probably have to learn how to get out.

Amid the play of light and sound, four characters meet and exist according to their solitudes and dreams. All of them are searching for an elsewhere, and they will seek it out by organizing themselves in front of the space, in front of themselves, in front of others. Together, they probe their personal and collective walls, these structures made of fears and illusions, to draw upon the courage to act and the path of escape.

In the enigmatic atmosphere of Les Puits [The Wells], Julien Scholl deploys high-flying restricted space that is realistic, symbolic, and phantasmagorical. This well questions us, plunges us into our intimate depths, and reveals our vital need to connect with the other, the only possible route to victory over cowardice, absurdity, and discouragement.

The Compagnie Jupon was created by Julien Scholl and Jérôme Pont, two artists who first trained at the Lido circus arts center of Toulouse and then performed in shows for various companies. They have been touring with Ensemble, a circus duo, since 2014 and have performed the show more than 230 times. Julien Scholl has pursued his work as an author-director with the creation of Le Puits, a show for four performers.
