Presentation

What if we could dilate the time to live? The Franco-Brazilian collective is rethinking time and considering ways to invest it with a new nature in an attempt to unveil its buried secrets. Open your heart to the urge to press an imaginary button to summon silence, to suspend time for a beat too long, and to evoke a tempest of emotions. Stretching time to offer yourself spaces that can foster the sensation of being suspended, sudden stops, backtracking, and other violent ruptures of normality.

In resonance with our world, where everything is accelerated, Mute is an aerial parenthesis where acrobatic bodies try to escape linear time. But how far can they go? Because disrupting the temporal continuum is not without consequences...

Mute is a collaboration between the SÔLTA company and the Collectif A4.

SÔLTA is a Franco-Brazilian circus company created in La Seyne-sur-Mer in 2013. It was founded by Alluana Ribeiro and Tom Prôneur, who attended some of the most prestigious circus schools in France. After short and intense experiences as performers, in 2014 they wrote their own show, Apesar (despite, in Portuguese). It has been performed in more than 15 countries. For their second creation, Alluana and Tom invited Julien and Emilie Silliau * to take part in the work. This quartet of artists became the Collectif A4 in 2020.

With Mute, the Collectif A4 explores the different possibilities of hitting pause and unearths artistic pearls that are formed with this coveted, imaginary mute button.

*Since their training at circus schools in France and Montreal, Julien and Emilie have been part of several creations by the Canadian company Les Sept Doigts de la Main, including Psy, Traces, Réversible, Queen of the Night). They have participated in the Cirque de Demain on several occasions. After more than 1500 shows for different companies, they decided to create the Collectif A4 with the Sôlta Company.
