Presentation

Somewhere between circus, performance art, and contemporary dance, in this solo show Marc Oosterhoff confronts danger based on risk. Voluntary submission to danger as a way to feel alive in the most profound depths of his flesh. A game to escape the dull standards of safety that mark out and sanitize our daily life. Here the artist dictates his own rules and creates his own pitfalls: a bottle of whisky, 12 shot glasses, knives, paper balls, a basket, and rat traps. The audience is left uncertain, hesitating between hilarity and fright while never being able to take their eyes off him.

With the support of the Swiss Cultural Center, On Tour, and the Pro Helvetia arts council.

“With this subtle creation Take Care of Yourself, we tense up, we shout, we laugh. Circus skill combined with humor, originality, and simplicity.”
