This professional seminar is offered by a selection of influential cultural organizations in France: ARCADE (the regional cultural development agency for the performing arts), ARTCENA (the national center for circus arts and street performance), the FNCC (the national organization for local cultural departments), the Syndicat des Cirques et Compagnies de Création (the French circus union), and Territoires de Cirque (the non-profit collective that supports circus arts).The session is aimed at elected officials, agents, teachers, cultural institutions, and cultural project operators and leaders.
It will:
– explore contemporary creation, its characteristics, and its trends by combining a historic approach with case studies from recent shows;
– place creation within a professional context: the conditions of creation, production, and distribution, the work under the tent and on tour, the institutional environment, and the links with local and regional governments;
– introduce methods of constructive criticism that will be applied to two performances that are part of the Biennale Internationale des Arts du Cirque.
Seminar will be held in French.
