For this unprecedented Rendez-vous, students from the 32nd graduating class of the CNAC national circus center are workig with students from the Piste d’Azur circus school under the direction of Gilles Cailleau. Their objective: to create a show in record time! A leap into the unknown for everyone. With this Rendez-vous, Gilles Cailleau invites us to participate in a reflection on our lives:
“We are always choosing, or are being chosen. We have job interviews, auditions, we observe, we are observed, we have trial periods. We profile, we accept or reject people as friends, we surf online, we like, we choose, we match… We don’t want to be wrong, we want to be absolutely certain, we want to find the one, our soul mate, the one-in-a-million. But this Rendez-vous is something else. It’s a promise, it’s when we don’t know yet, when we give it a try, when we take a step forward, when we could all be wrong, when we are certain of nothing. So even if the show doesn’t deal with politics, it does attempt to depict a certain humanity; one that places in the same location two people who never asked to be together but who, better yet, refuse to be tormented by it.”

Rendez-vous is an original creation that brings together two schools: CNAC (National Center for Circus Arts), the circus graduate school in Châlons-en-Champagne that gives students the opportunity to perform before live audiences; and the Centre Régional des Arts du Cirque PACA–Piste d'Azur, a vocational training school in La Roquette-sur-Siagne that offers its students the chance to engage with the professional world.
The students are accompanied by Gilles Cailleau and the Attention Fragile company for the staging. Attention Fragile offers a form of performance that is delicately vibrant, made up of asides to the audience and stolen secrets. Coming from the world of theater and called to universe of the circus, Gilles Cailleau creates shows that are performed not before the audience, but before people: Le Nouveau Monde, Tout l’Univers en plus petit, Gilles & Bérénice, Le Tour complet du cœur, Tania’s Paradise…
