Presentation

Hold On is a virtual-reality based visual experience that explores the world of contemporary circus. Inspired by Corinne Linder's life experiences, Hold On spectators/users are transported into the universe of the diverse aerial disciplines used in contemporary circus thanks to VR glasses, which allows them to experience the sensations normally enjoyed only by the performers on stage; the feelings of risk-taking, stage fright, joy, adrenalin, danger. This experience evokes the graceful fragility of that heart-stopping moment when it seems inevitable that the performer will fall.

Corinne Linder's own accident was the driving force behind Hold On and the various questions the performance raises. What becomes of a damaged body? How does one continue to live without one's passion? After her accident, Corinne Linder took the decision to continue in the circus and became artistic director of the Fheel Concepts company. Her work aims to reestablish the sensations of the stage and to offer audiences a chance to experience them, to understand the space of the moment, the magic of being a performing artist. They will not only see Hold On, they will live it...

The Fheel Concepts was created in 2017 by Corinne Linder (circus artist and artistic director) and Charlotte Wion (production manager) with the objective of searching for new forms of expression in contemporary circus. Corinne Linder's work is based on different artistic experiences: she draws from the worlds of design, technology, and mind-body relations to create innovative ways to create and perform circuses.

The Hold On experience is part of the larger project, The Ordinary Circus Girl, a virtual reality performance that offers audiences the opportunity to enter a 360° narrative where the imaginary meets the material. The short films tells the story of a fictional character, the aerial artist Anna, who guides the spectator-cum-artist and takes them from the wings to the stage. It is a unique virtual reality opportunity to experience performance through the eyes of the artist.
