Strampalati (crazy) is what we become when we spend too much time under the glaring Italian sun. We are here in the Italy of yesteryear, where rhythm, music, humor, and tragedy permeate a culture of poetry and contrasts. Two characters share a vibrant breath and the pounding of words resembles a midday ray of sunlight hitting the village square.
Circus, theater, dance, and music are the languages that bring to life this fresco of a world that is both ancient and incredibly contemporary.
Staging and Performance: Lucia Pennini, Antoine Hulon
Chapikiosque Construction: Jacques et Antoine Hulon

The Circ'Hulon was created by Jacques Hulon (Gruss, Pinder, Aligre) and Sophie Thiéry (actress) in 1981. Beginning as a tightrope show, from 1983 to 1998 the company changed its shape, creating a lighthearted open-air fair that went from village to village. The circus traveled throughout France and Italy before joining forces with the Polonia circus in Poland and the Baltija circus in Latvia for two years and began regularly performing as clowns and jugglers.
In 2009, the Circ'Hulon, comprised of Lucia, Antoine and Jacques, settled down in Graulhet in the Tarn department of France where they have been putting on the show Le Kiosque à Mézigue, sponsored by the DRAC art fund of the Midi-Pyrénées region, the Graulhet town hall, and the Tarn department. In 2015, Nagi Tartamella and Florian Lasne of the Racines de Poche company (dance and theater) joined the Cir'Hulon for a new project: Strampalati. Thus, the company expanded to include two new Franco-Italian artists in order to plunge into this Italian-themed performance.
