Inspired by the realm of electro circus and its perilous harmony between movement and aural experience, these four artists focus their creative talents on an matter rich in meaning and symbolism: stone. As a basis for construction, this element is the object of fanatical excesses, representing everything from the harmless gestures of a child's game to the greatest architectural challenges. In Masse Critique, every stone is an opportunity for constructions that are unstable and ephemeral, a reflection of the tightrope walker's own challenges. Build to raise oneself up, to imperil oneself, maybe to fall and surely to destroy. A mix between concert, visual performance, and physical theater, this show is an astoundingly contemporary metaphor for human destiny.

The Théâtre Massalia and Archaos, Pôle National Cirque Méditerranée support this project together.
Founded in 1999 around the work of high-wire artist Sébastien Le Guen, Lonely Circus has always been dedicated to the exploration of the relationship between the circus and the theater through creations both within and beyond a venue's walls. With the wire at the center of their performances, the company also conducts research and innovation work revolving around circus apparatuses (self-supporting devices), beginning in 2005 with the development of the "girafon" (co-design and construction by Mecaviv). An offshoot of this project, the "weight of skin”, was created in 2008 and is still on tour today.
Jérôme Hoffmann, composer and electroacoustic musician, joined the company in 2008. In 2012, he moved from the studio to the set for the Fall Fell Fallen project, in which two performers try to find the sound of the circus, or, rather, what is "of the circus" in live music. In 2013, Sébastien Le Guen responded to a commission from the Festival d'Avignon as part of the Sujets à Vif program (SACD) with Dans les Bois, created with Jérôme Hoffmann and the bassist and slammer Dgiz. Since its inception, Lonely Circus has created seven shows, resulting in over 700 performances in France and abroad.
