Presentation

The artists lead the audience into a bizarre and amusing universe where they rub shoulders with absurd characters who are both monstrous and touching. It's a place where we come face-to-face with an animal and a mirror and we can contemplate our humanity and wonder who is truly the beast. Sharing a stage with a dog allows questions to be raised in a humorous manner about the world we live in and the links between humans and other living creatures.

Audrey Louwet is a circus artist who graduated from the CNAC. In 2010, she founded the company Azeïn in Aix-en-Provence and, with a circle of diversely talented artists, created multidisciplinary performances that explore the animal nature within people as a way to better understand human relationships. Her first creation, La Vie Tendre et Cruelle des Animaux Sauvages, examined the relationship between power and seduction. It spent three years on tour with a remarkably original stage rigging system: a four-sided aerial construction that increased the possibilities for aerobatics.

In the same inventive stream, Audrey Louwet conceived of a system of aerial lifts using climbing harnesses to create a universe where only the floating body is seen. She also continued her work on the interaction between the animal and human worlds. It eventually became obvious that she should share the stage with an animal and she developed a trusting, working relationship with a dog. All the while, Audrey Louwet was studying the capacities of the body in movement. She has been in contact with the Laboratoire de Neurosciences Cognitives in Marseille to help determine what parts of the brain are used during acrobatics and whether it is possible to consider the animal instincts of an acrobat.
